UK- Boiler repair rip off?
My mum had a new boiler fitted about 5 years ago and it was working fine until about 2 months ago. It started making a terrible knocking noise and then the pilot light would cut out.
After weeks of returning to fix the boiler the repairer still hadn't fixed it. He flushed the system, replaced the hot water cylinder and did several other minor repairs before giving up. He eventually told her to leave it on the lowest temperature setting. It will work for a reasonable amount of time like this. Mum thinks it might be a problem with the thermostat.
